Compositions for Computer
Interstice and Equidecimal are stand-alone compositions designed for
Power Macs. Each composition is quite small (~40K) but is a complete audio/video
work. These are a series of what I call astatic music. Each piece synthesizes
its own audio and video while it is running. Each performance will be different.
You can specify a length beforehand, or simply allow the piece to play
as long as you wish. Each work contains complete instructions.
I am interested in creating situations and environments in which the
listener becomes the composer. Each one of us perceives a piece of music
in an individual way. I have intentionally left traditional associative
properties out of these works. Most rhythmic and tonal material has been
dissolved, leaving an open space for you to create your own perceptions.
I emphasize that I believe that this process is at work in all music. I
am simply attempting to draw your attention to it.
