Cibola Internet Services keeps Cibola County plugged into the world

Founded in 1995 as a part time business, Cibola Internet Services owners Louis and Debra Uttaro say they are continuing to grow every day. They have increased their capacity steadily for three-and-a-half years and now have three full time employees.

The Uttaros offer local Internet access over fast, digital 56k modems, which are linked to the Internet via a two-way satellite. Cibola Internet Services (CIS) basic service package includes full web access, e-mail, news groups and web page hosting.

With their enhanced service, customers get the basic service package plus free on-site technical support and greater space for web page hosting.

In the past year CIS has added two employees and recently expanded into new office space. As well as being an Internet service provider, they are also a reseller for Intellicom, who offers the two-way Internet access over the satellite.

Their business has continued to grow at the same rapid packe as the Internet. Recent price reductions have put their costs at less than most Internet providers in Albuquerque an CIS is all local; no more long distance calls to access the Net.

Future plans for CIS include possible implementation of a wireless Internet solution to peoples’ homes and businesses. A wireless solution would free up or possibly eliminate the need to have your computer connected to the Internet over a phone line. Download speeds would be faster and the overall costs will be less.

They are also planning to offer the option of content filtering, so parents won’t need to worry what their kids are viewing on the Internet.

The Uttaros say there are three things we know about the Internet. One, it’s not going to go away, two, it’s only going to get bigger, and three someday everyone will be using it for something. And based on these three truths, you will be using the Internet, if you’re not already. So don’t be left behind. Stop by CIS at 1109 Mesa Blvd. And ask them to hook you up to the rest of the world.
